Notts man denies murder of woman from Chesterfield area

Tinklin, 37, of Recreation Street, Selston, appeared at Nottingham Crown Court via a video-link from HMP Nottingham, and spoke only to confirm his name this morning.

A trial date was set for January 18, 2021, and it is expected to last two to three weeks. A pre-trial preparation hearing was set for September 10.

Vanessa Marshall QC, for Tinklin, said no application was being made for bail at the moment.

Judge Stuart Rafferty QC remanded Tinklin into custody until further notice.

Police were called to Alfreton Road, Selston, at around 6.25pm on Saturday following reports of a crash involving a van and a woman, who was pronounced dead at the scene.Eight other people were arrested as part of detectives’ enquiries and have now been released on bail pending further enquiries.

Following the incident, Detective Inspector Richard Monk, of Nottinghamshire Police, issued a public appeal for information.
