Staveley Miners Welfare had a mixed week with a victory and defeat against opponents who are among the bottom six places of the Northern Counties East League.

They recorded a 4-0 victory at home to Winterton Rangers on March 5. Inspired by man of the match Josh Scully, they raced into a 3-0 lead and produced an excellent first-half. The goals came from Oli Ryan (2), Josh Scully (penalty) and captain Jamie Smith.

The Welfare travelled to Parkgate on Saturday but were on the wrong end of a 3-1 score line with only Pat Lindley’s goal as consolation.

Staveley play Albion Sports on March 12 and face Armthorpe Welfare on Saturday before travelling to Glasshoughton Welfare on March 18.
