The 25-year-old picked up a groin injury in the defeat to Hartlepool United.

With just three weeks to go until the end of the regular campaign his season could be over unless the Spireites make the play-offs.

“He picked up an injury at Hartlepool, hence why he came off at half-time and he is out for two to three weeks,” Rowe said.

“It is a groin strain, just a grade one, so we could not risk him the other day.

“So three weeks but obviously in this period now any sort of injuries can cost you the season.”

There is some good news though ahead of the trip to the Woking on Saturday in that centre-back Gavin Gunning who has been struggling with a hamstring problem, is getting ‘stronger’.

And midfielder Curtis Weston, who missed the defeat to Torquay with a sore Achilles, has been able to rest up this week.

“I am pleased we have got most of the squad available that we knew was available for the short-term,” Rowe said.

“Gavin is getting stronger by the day.

“Curtis has had a little bit of rest now so hopefully he will be available for this weekend

“Having those two back is a bonus for us.

“Danny’s (Rowe) fitness is coming up to speed because he did not play for a period of time before he came in.

“I am sure we will be in good spirits and have full of energy tomorrow.”
