Chesterfield drivers warned to expect delays during new A61 roadworks

Roadworks are expected to cause delays on the A61 through Chesterfield this weekend.

Derbyshire County Council highways teams will be undertaking the work between Horns Bridge roundabout and the Tesco Extra superstore on Saturday, August 14.

The work is described as ‘traffic management for cyclic works’ and the council says delays are ‘likely’.

There was heavy congestion in Chesterfield recently when the A617 Hasland Bypass was shut for roadworks over the weekend of July 24-25.

Drivers said the work should have been carried out during lockdown.
