Man arrested and vehicle seized in Derbyshire - after ‘collecting offences like they were loyalty points’

A driver has been arrested by police in Derbyshire after ‘collecting offences like they were loyalty points.’

A vehicle was seized and a man taken into custody by officers after being stopped while behind the wheel in Whitwell.

A spokesperson for the Bolsover and Clowne Safer Neighbourhood Team said: “Officers came across a motorist who appeared to be collecting Road Traffic Act offences like they were loyalty points.

“A quick check revealed the driver was behind the wheel without a valid driving licence and, perhaps unsurprisingly, without insurance either. The vehicle was promptly stopped and recovered under S165 of the Road Traffic Act.

“During the stop, officers carried out a search of both the driver and the vehicle under S23 of the Misuse of Drugs Act - where a quantity of Class A drugs was discovered in the vehicle.

“The driver was arrested for possession of Class A drugs with intent to supply, driving whilst disqualified and driving without insurance. Safe to say this wasn’t quite the journey they’d planned. Enquiries remain ongoing.”
