Woman storms out of Chesterfield court hearing wishing judge 'good luck' with arrest warrant as she 'will be in Australia in two days'

“Good luck with that. I will be in Australia in two days.”

A woman stormed out halfway through her Chesterfield court hearing, wishing the judge ‘good luck’ with her arrest warrant.

Natalia Price, 31, appeared in Chesterfield Magistrates Court on Thursday, November 5, in connection with an incident, which involved an alleged assault on a police officer in Derbyshire.

The incident took place on Friday, August 14, in Stretton, when the defendant was travelling in a police car for an unrelated matter.

The court heard that while in car, Price tried to undo her seatbelt, and a PC who was travelling alongside urged her not to.

But the defendant continued her efforts, and the PC grabbed her arm to prevent her from undoing the seatbelt.

At this point the defendant allegedly assaulted the police officer.

Price, of Riverside Park, Tolney Lane, Newark, was charged with common assault of an emergency worker and assault of a constable in the execution of her duty.

She represented herself during the hearing, pleading not guilty to both charges.

Price said: “It happened so fast, she was gripping my arm.

“She bruised all of my arm.

“I wasn’t in the right state of mind when it happened.”

When the video footage from the incident was played in court, the defendant asked to switch it off because she ‘couldn’t watch it’.

District Judge Taaffe explained to Price that the video was a part of evidence and needed to be played.

In response the defendant said she would leave the courtroom.

The judge warned her that if she left in the middle of the proceedings, he would be forced to issue an arrest warning.

While leaving the courtroom, Price said: “Good luck with that. I will be in Australia in two days.”

District Judge Taaffe said that an order for arrest warrant would be issued immediately.
