New plan to convert pub into apartments and shop in Derbyshire town
Proposal includes 256 sq m supermarket.
A new plan to create apartments and a shop in a Derbyshire town’s vacant pub has been unveiled.
Seven apartments are proposed for The Victoria on Acreage Lane, Shirebrook where the residential accommodation would be spread over the ground, first and second floor of the building. A supermarket of approximately 256 sq m is identified in the ground floor plan.
The applicant is Rajbir Padda and an agent acting on his behalf has submitted the application to Bolsover District Council.
A previous planning application to convert the pub into a general convenience store with an extension for additional storage and the conversion of the first and second floors to provide two self-contained flats and a seven-bedroom house in multiple occupation was granted conditional permission.
A design and access statement submitted with the latest application says: “Rather than treating the previous conditions as independent obligations, the current proposal integrates their requirements into the site design. CCTV and lighting are positioned as part of the external access and parking strategy, cycle storage is located within defined secure areas, boundaries are designed to provide enclosure without creating an unnecessarily defensive appearance, landscaping softens the parking and circulation areas, and biodiversity measures are incorporated into the building and landscape treatment.”
The planning authority will consult neighbours and statutory bodies about the application until November 3, 2026.
