Police have commended the public’s compliance with social distancing guidelines as they released a picture of a deserted Derbyshire beauty spot that was crammed with tourists two weekends ago.

The original picture showing crowds flocking to Matlock Bath ‘like it was a bank holiday’ despite being advise to stay at home sparked outrage when it was posted on social media two weeks ago.

But it seems people are now adhering to Government guidelines and helping to minimise the spreads of COVID-19 after the beauty spot was pictured deserted despite the warm weather.

“Please don't let the good weather tempt you out to the tourist hot spots today.”

It comes after officers used drones and roadblocks to deter members of the public from driving to beauty spots in the Peak District and other national parks to walk their dogs and exercise.
