Mum-of-four Cheryl Booth, who runs CLB Semi Permanent Makeup, in Eckington, claims she has had ‘little to no support’ during the Covid-19 lockdown and is now being prevented from reopening.

Cheryl says her clinic has ‘very strict and very high’ standards of hygiene, and staff wear full PPE every day to ensure their clients’ safety.

She said: “While I’m happy for the pubs to reopen due to the fact most are run as small businesses, I’m also very disappointed in the Government’s decision that they can open before us, it just seems a little backward.

“It’s going to be near-on impossible to social distance in an alcohol-fuelled environment, no PPE, all using the same toilets, people’s inhibitions disappearing after a couple of drinks.

“I feel sorry for landlords/landladies who are really going to have their hands full keeping on top of this!

Meadowhall can house 3,000 people shopping, restaurants can open and serve food and drinks to tables all under one roof.”

Cheryl says she has spent much of the lockdown suffering with anxiety and concerns about money.

“I’ve spent the last 13 weeks online training, online teaching, advancing my own skills and adding more treatments as I was determined I’d come out of this bigger and better, but as a whole I’ve been down and very nervous about the future of it all,” she said.

Cheryl remains determined to get back to normal as soon as possible and ‘cannot wait to welcome clients back’.

“I do a lot of IPL hair removal clients that suffer from polycystic ovary syndrome, they suffer from facial hair growth so have to come every 4-6 weeks to keep the growth at bay, these ladies rely on me to treat them to help their self confidence.

“I’ve had so many messages pleading with me to treat them, its very distressing and very hard to read.”

The Government says the close contact between staff and customers is the reason for the delay and it will monitor whether cases of Covid-19 increase after rules are relaxed on July 4.
