Chesterfield group wins national film award
The winning film 'In the same boat' tells the story of local kinship carer, Kelly, and the essential support she found on joining Kinship Chesterfield.
Kinship Chesterfield, working with the national charity Kinship, have won a Gold People's Choice Award at the Smiley Charity Film Awards, the charity world's equivalent to the Oscars, beating hundreds of films from charity groups across the UK and beyond.

The winning film 'In the same boat' tells the story of local kinship carer, Kelly, and the essential support she found on joining Kinship Chesterfield.
Kinship Chesterfield supports kinship carers across Chesterfield, Bolsover and North East Derbyshire; those people who selflessly step in to care for children when, for whatever reason, their birth parent are unable to.

Andrew Woodward, Chair of Kinship Chesterfield, said "Kelly showed immense courage in stepping forward to tell her story so publicly. We very much hope that the film helps other kinship carers, who often feel lost and isolated, to seek the support that we and the Kinship charity aim to provide".
