'There was a ruthlessness that maybe hasn’t been there recently' - reaction to a thumping win for Chesterfield
Spireites singing in the rain after five-goal home show
Assistant boss Danny Webb welcomed a new-found ruthlessness as Chesterfield put Crewe Alexandra to the sword.

The lack of a cutting edge which has held the team back at times this season was replaced by no-nonsense finishing in the 5-1 victory at a rain-lashed SMH Group Stadium.
The goals which took the Spireites back up to seventh spot in League Two were shared between Josh Koroma, Tom Naylor, Fraser Bryden and Dilan Markanday. An own goal completed a 5-0 first half
Webb told the Derbyshire Times: “There was a ruthlessness that maybe hasn’t been there the last few games. I think the performance levels have been there. It’s just nice to marry that up with a result which you don’t always get and we haven’t got in recent weeks.
“It was great to have four different scorers and they were all celebrated strongly because it means so much. Maybe we could have put the game to bed even more and scored six or seven but you can’t be greedy. The ruthlessness was in both boxes and that at times has been missing this season.
“We play a really good style of football, a unique style of football, and it feels even better when you play that football and get three points as well.”

Koroma injured himself in the act of scoring and was substituted, but his injury is only thought to be minor.
The starting line-up showed five changes from the midweek draw with Colchester in manager Paul Cook’s boldest selection yet this season. Goalkeeper Ryan Boot, Lewis Gordon, Ryan Stirk, Dilan Markanday and Lee Bonis all dropped out.
Of the five players taken out of the line-up, only Ryan Stirk’s absence was due to injury.
“Ryan had tight calf on Tuesday,” explained Webb. “He felt he was OK to play but the gaffer doesn’t like taking the risk, particularly with the amount of players we’ve got to pick from. Tom (Naylor) came in and was excellent.”
“We’ve got back in the play-off positions and now we’ve got to look upwards and really not take many more steps backwards.
“The supporters should really enjoy the next couple of days because its nice when you win. It means so much to the town.”
