Seasonal crafts and a reindeer trail to entertain young visitors.

Seasonal fun is just around the corner at the Moorland Discovery Centre on the Longshaw Estate which each year is transformed into a festive grotto.

Families can pick their perfect real Christmas tree from November 21 to December 23, with every purchase supporting the National Trust’s vital conservation work in the Peak District.

Longshaw’s expert rangers carefully select a variety of tree species, including types that retain their needles throughout Christmas and New Year.

Festive wreath making, using natural materials gathered from around Longshaw, takes place on November 28 and 29 and December 5. Booking is essential.

Children can take part in nature-inspired festive crafts on December 12 and 13 and make a decoration to take home and hang on the Christmas tree. A small charge applies.

There is also a Christmas reindeer trail through the woods, running from November 20 until January 3, when families are invited to spot the cheeky creatures and play their games. It’s free to take part in this trail.

Parking is free for National Trust members. For non-members, parking costs £6 for up to four hours or £8 for more than four hours.
