A Derbyshire choir will reflect on seven decades of music in an afternoon concert.

Somercotes Community Singers will perform songs from Gilbert and Sullivan’s The Mikado, Verdi’s Speed Your Journey, South Pacific and A Chorus Line as well as chart hits by Queen and Elton John at Somercotes Village Hall on October 22, 2022.

Katie Jinks, who chairs the choir which is now in its 72nd year, said: “We thought we should choose music which covers past and present and hope the audience appreciate the varied programme.”

The choral society’s musical director is Neil Farley of Belper and the accompanist is John Hobbs of Risley.

Shirland Training Brass Band will support the choir during this New and Old, Funny and Bold concert, starting at 2pm.
