Dan Haworth leads Matlock AC home in Cumbria
Dan Haworth brought Matlock home with a fourth-placed finish at the Wansfell Uphill 2.5 time trial.
The Cumbrian race started from bottom of Stock Ghyll Lane, Ambleside, and finished on the summit of Wansfell at 488m.
Runners set off at 30 second intervals with a relentless climb up Wansfell, with Jacob Adkin winning in 13.53.
Haworth finshed in 14.52, followed by team-mate Billy Cartwright in fifth in 15.20. The first lady was Scout Adkin in 15.50, with 147 runners taking part.
There were five events on Sunday at Thoresby Park, near Ollerton. A 5k race, 10k race, 10 miles and half marathon and a canicross race for runners with dogs.
The Race Village was expanded so there was plenty of room and separate start times for each distance. The course was undulating trail and had a feel of cross country about it.
For MAC – Junior, Logan Fairey took part in the 5k, Carly Spear and Paddy Wright the 10k and Christine Howard the Half Marathon and all enjoyed their runs, especially being able to compete in the safe environment of acres of beautiful countryside.
MAC Members’ Winter 10k Handicap Series starts on 26th October with a different format to previous years.
It is the same course from the car park at Arc Leisure, Matlock through Hall Leys Park to the Pav, Matlock Bath and back.
This year it will be on a Monday-Friday basis so everyone can fit a run in. There are six races, one per month, with five counting in the results.
