Chesterfield return to action in the National League this evening as they head to Wrexham (7.45pm KO).

The Spireites will be aiming to bounce back after losing 3-1 at Woking a week ago.

The hosts, meanwhile, saw their game at Aldershot on Saturday abandoned in the second-half due to a waterlogged pitch when they were winning 2-0.

Town are currently are third in the table, while Wrexham are 12th.

Liam Norcliffe is at the game and will have all the build-up, team news, updates and reaction.

In case you missed it

We go again!

Chesterfield did not play at the weekend but results went their way. It is too early to start worrying about what other teams do but it meant that the Spireites remained in the top three which was a plus.

Wrexham away is about as tough as it gets in the National League so Town face a hell of a task tonight.

James Rowe’s men should be the fresher of the two sides having not played on Saturday. However, Wrexham’s match at Aldershot was abandoned early in the second-half due to a waterlogged pitch so they might not be as tired as they normally would if they had played 90 minutes.

Chesterfield’s team selection will be interesting after the 3-1 defeat at Woking last week, will Rowe ring the changes or keep the faith with the players who have served him well so far this season?

Wrexham are undefeated at home with two wins and a draw, but results at the Racecourse Ground have been close and I think it willbe tight this evening.

I’m going for 1-1.

Liam’s predicted line-up

I am predicting three changes for Chesterfield tonight with Laurence Maguire returning for Jamie Grimes, who didn’t have his best game at Woking last week.

I expect Manny Oyeleke to play as long as he had no problem in training on Monday. He has been missed and it would be a big boost to have him back.

I also think George Carline will start in place of Jeff King and I think we might see Jim Kellermann involved in the squad for the first time after being recalled from his loan spell at Tamworth.

Loach; Kerr, Gunning, Maguire; Carline, Weston, Oyeleke, Miller; Khan; Payne, Tshimanga. Subs: Whittle, King, Kellermann, Mandeville, Rowe.

As well as seeing their match against Aldershot on Saturday being abandoned in the second-half due to a waterlogged pitch with Wrexham leading 2-0, it sounds like they could be missing a couple of key players tonight as well.

First-team captain Luke Young hobbled off after just nine minutes and club captain Ben Tozer was stretched off and taken to hospital.

Speaking to leaderlive.co.uk, Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson, said: “Luke’s is an ankle injury and Ben has got whacked on the shin.

“He has gone to hospital for an x-ray so all we can do is keep our fingers crossed that they are not too serious.

“But obviously when you see two senior players like that stretchered off, it is a blow but I thought the lads who came on did really well.”
