Team news thoughts from fan writer Ben

The team news is in then and it’s five changes for the Spireites for this evening’s game against King’s Lynn Town, with Josef Yarney, Jak McCourt, Alex Whittle, Jack Clarke and Adi Yussuf all in, and Fraser Kerr, Curtis Weston, Tom Whelan, Joe Rowley and Marcus Dinanga dropping out.

I am slightly surprised to see so many changes after an impressive display against Woking last time out, however that is not to say that I think tonight’s eleven is any weaker than that which took the field on Saturday.

James Rowe is blessed with a squad that has considerable strength in depth, and I feel that the ability to rotate routinely and still put out a strong side is an illustration of that fact. It’s also worth considering that, with all due respect to tonight’s visitors, King’s Lynn find themselves in a tough situation and the chances of them picking a result up tonight do seem slim, and perhaps, whilst I’m sure he’s not getting complacent, this has given Rowe a greater feeling of flexibility in regards to his team selection this evening.

The opportunity to rotate players ahead of the ‘harder’ end-of-season games, and potentially the play-offs, could give a potential boost to Town’s promotion errors.

The return of Jak McCourt from the start is another huge positive too, so when all of this is taken into account, I feel that you have to be confident in the Spireites to pick up a result tonight. 3-0 Chesterfield is my prediction for this one.
