The visitors took the lead for the second time five minutes before the interval Khenan Barrett the scorer but again Melbourne wasted no time getting back on terms, Jake Peverley with the equaliser in added time. They fell behind for the third time on 53 minutes to a Lopes Massampo goal and this time there was no response as Lewis Smith scored again in the 83rd minute.

Both sides found the net in injury time, Finn Neale cutting the deficit to one goal but Gazers had the last word, Massampo getting his second, the final score 5-3. In the Camper UK Premier North,

Staveley Reserves consolidated third place with a 3-0 defeat of Evo FC. Sam Davies put them in front after 26 minutes from a corner. They increased the lead ten minutes after half time, Sam Bingham finishing off a flowing move and confirmed the win three minutes from time, Josh Nicholls the scorer.

The third match was in the Sheffield Senior Cup where despite a dominant second half Dinnington Town bowed out in the third round despite running Step Five Rossington Main close, the final score 2-1. The home side capitalised on their first half chances scoring twice, but Dinnington could only find one, Gabriel Oloko scoring after an hour.

A mixture of league and cup matches In Saturday, saw one or two division one sides added to the mix. As Burngreave United were on cup duty their three nearest rivals took the opportunity to close in on them. Harworth Colliery set off like a train, building up a three goal lead at Teversal but didn’t have much to spare by the end.

Jay Jay Taylor got them off to the perfect start with goals after 7 and 10 minutes, things looking ominous for the home side when Adam Morrison made it three on 27 minutes. Things gradually settled down, Cameron Pinnick pulling a goal back three minutes before half time and another just before the hour.

Unfortunately for Teversal they couldn’t find a third, Harworth taking the points 3-2. Proceedings at the Fieldings followed an almost identical pattern as Glapwell took on third placed Staveley Reserves.

The visitors took the lead even more quickly, Harvey Brayford--Taylor finding the net with barely 30 seconds on the clock. Charlie Bingham extended the lead on 11 minutes. Glapwell squandered the opportunity to reduce the deficit by failing from the penalty spot after 36 minutes.

The game remained even until the last ten minutes, Staveley finishing strongly as Alex Coates ended proceedings with a goal in the 81st minute and another three minutes later, making the final score 4-0.

Dinnington Town went a goal down at SJR Worksop before taking control of the game to win 4-1. Joe Bean gave the home side a 14th minute lead, Lewis Fretwell levelling the scores ten minutes later. Josh Stead gave the visitors the lead with 36 played, Dinnington extending their advantage with further strikes from Ollie Cooper midway through the second half and Craig Nelthorpe a minute before tRHP must be wondering how they only managed to get a point from their clash with Brodsworth Main after a match that might be called “competitive”.

A relatively even first half saw the sides reach half time on equal terms, Sol Miller’s 27th minute goal for RHP equalled by Clayton Cherowbrier ten minutes later. As the second half progressed the pressure on the Brodsworth defence increased, but the breakthrough never came, due in no small part to Brodsworth keeper Ellis Patterson who had an inspired game. There was another 1-1 draw at AFC Bentley as they faced Ollerton Town.

Bentley missed a golden opportunity to take a 26th minute lead from the penalty spot, with the ball apparently clearing not only the crossbar but also the stand. George Slack gave Ollerton the lead in the 51st minute which looked enough to ensure a second win of the season, but it was not to be as sub Dan James pulled a point out of the fire with 87 minutes on the clock.

In the Camper UK Premier South, Derby Singh Brothers moved up to third place following a 3-0 defeat of Bakewell Town. A 10th minute goal from Abdul Akram gave Singhs an early advantage, the same player doubling the lead with 57 minutes on the clock.

Khaleeq Shaffique came off the bench to seal the points with 73 minutes played. FC Sunnyhill and Mickleover RBL drew 1-1, Sunnyhill’s gal coming from Lewis Benjamin. Cromford & Wirksworth Town faced Blidworth Welfare met for the second time in a fortnight and for the second time the match ended all square.

Blidworth led at half time thanks to a Charlie Miller goal on 15 minutes, but Cromford turned the game on its head with two goals in four minutes shortly after the restart, James Hirst scoring on 49 minutes quickly followed by a second from Scott Taylor which would have lifted them off the bottom. As all struggling sides will know, fate always takes a hand with this one being particularly cruel, Blidworth’s 88th minute equaliser given as an own goal.

Also at the wrong end of the table Graham Street Prims picked up a precious point from a 2-2 draw at Ripley Town thanks to Levi Hulme and (believe it or not) an own goal.

There were seven more ties in the second round of the Buckingham Insurance League Cup.

Melbourne Dynamo recovered quickly from their midweek defeat with a 4-1 defeat of Holbrook St Michaels. Danny Guild, Jack Goodband, Ali Brown and Ben Gowing, with Richard Hanslow getting one for the Saints.

Evo fc almost produced a shock for Burngreave United, going in front with a goal from Oliver Beautyman, Umar Mohammed replying for the hosts which sent the game to penalties. Burngreave winning 5-4. Derby Gazers have enjoyed success in both cup competitions this week. Mickleover Athletic were their victims on Saturday, Gazers winning 3-1.

All of the goals came in the second half, Isaac Hutton’s 50th minute opener followed by a double from Khenan Barrett in the 66th and 75th minutes, Mickleover’s reply coming in the closing minutes.

A hat trick from Noah Trivett propelled Borrowash Victoria into Round Three at the expense of Wirksworth Ivanhoe. The first two goals were penalties awarded for handling offences, the third a beautifully struck free kick from 25 yards. The three remaining ties featured sides from the Macron Store Nottingham Division One. Kirton Brickworks, currently top of Division One Central, faced an in-form Elite AFC who proved too much of a handful, Kirton going down 4-1. Tommy Pallett (2), Bartek Chrobak and Robbie Glennon scored for Elite, Corey Woods replying for the visitors.

Gresley Rovers B had to stage a comeback after finding themselves two goals in arrears against Rowsley 86. Sam Elliott and Harry Harrod gave the Division One side a realistic chance of reaching the next round but Gresley gradually chipped away at the lead, Ethan Watson, Stevie Savage and Sheene Gordon making the final score 3-2. One team did make it, Heanor Town knocking Linby Colliery out on penalties following a 1-1 draw, Harry Thorne scoring for Linby, Tyler Beer for Heanor who won the shootout 5-4.
