Chesterfield might look into replacing injured striker Nathan Tyson 'very soon', says boss John Pemberton

The experienced forward is set to be out injured with a hamstring injury for at least a couple of weeks.

Although Town still have Tom Denton, Luke Rawson, Alex Kiwomya and Scott Boden up front, the Blues will miss Tyson’s pace and ability to stretch defences.

When asked by the DT if he is close to bringing anyone else in, Pemberton said: “We are always looking.

“The thing now is to see how long Nathan is possibly going to be.

“That might be something where if he is going to be out for a while then we might look in that direction to bring some cover in, certainly while he is out.

“We are always looking to bring players in. I want to chuck players at the chairman all the time. You are not doing your job properly if you are not looking at players to see how you can better what you have got so I think that is important.

“If Tyson is going to be longer-term then that might be something that we look into very soon.”

In other news, former Chesterfield striker Mike Fondop has signed a short-term deal with Aldershot Town after leaving the Spireites as a free agent in the summer.

"I spoke to Mike in the summer and Mike wanted to keep his options open and that is where we left it,” Pemberton said. “I never heard back from him. There was never a conversation about bringing Mike back because Mike never wanted that conversation.”
