Chesterfield midfielder Joe Rowley joins National League club on loan
Chesterfield midfielder Joe Rowley has joined King’s Lynn Town on loan until January 4.
The 22-year-old has made some appearances for the Spireites during pre-season but was likely to find himself down the pecking order this campaign.
Rowley, one of Chesterfield’s longest-serving players, signed a new contract until summer 2022 in January and took a pay cut in doing so.
Unfortunately he suffered a bad hamstring injury when he was given his chance in the starting line-up last season and was never able to force his way back into the team as Town pushed towards the play-offs.
Rowley made his Blues debut when he was 17 in League One and his form attracted the attention of some big clubs.
Speaking after Rowley had penned his new deal, manager James Rowe said: “We have to protect our assets and he has shown massive potential to really kick on and develop his game.
“I think because he has been around quite a while people forget his age.”
