Chesterfield teenager in England Golf 2026/27 Regional Squad

‘The programme has been instrumental in the development of players who have gone on to represent England’

A teenage golfer from Chesterfield is among dozens of prospects chosen for a nationwide programme for emerging talents.

Eva Myers (17) has been included in the East Midlands section among the ten regional squads drawn up by England Golf.

A total of 128 players are taking part, with Eva the only player from Derbyshire in her area’s girls’ section.

The others are: Ava Allenby 15 (Waltham Windmill, Lincolnshire), Bethany Gough 17 (Greetham Valley, Lincolnshire), Isobelle Harriyanto 14 (Woodhall Spa, Lincolnshire), Bella Lowery 14 (Market Rasen, Lincolnshire), Abigail Scott 17 (Kenwick Park, Lincolnshire), Olivia Wilson 13 (Sherwood Forest, Nottinghamshire)

Acting as a bridge between county and national golf, the Regional Coaching Programme helps emerging talents take the next step in their journey.

The programme identifies and supports players who show the potential to represent the relevant England age-group teams within the next two years.

England Golf’s deputy performance director, Steve Burnett, said: "The Regional Performance Programme plays a crucial role in helping talented young golfers make the transition from county golf to the national stage.

“It provides players with the support, coaching and experiences they need to continue their development and realise their potential.

"Our aim is to create a clear and connected pathway that gives every aspiring player the chance to progress and develop the skills, confidence and behaviours needed to succeed at the highest level."

Over the last year, the Performance Staff Team has undertaken a thorough review of the Regional Programme, resulting in updated selection criteria that, says England Golf, has never been more rigorous.

England Golf added: “It is thanks to their hard work that the new look 2026/27 Regional Squads are stronger than ever as we head into the next phase of coaching and support.

"The programme has been instrumental in the development of many players who have gone on to represent England and achieve success in the amateur and professional game. Just as importantly, it helps foster a lifelong connection with golf by ensuring players enjoy a positive, challenging and rewarding experience throughout."
