A survey on the future of Chesterfield town centre is a great idea

I am so pleased you are trying to help the traders in the shops and Market Place (Have your say on town centre - Derbyshire Times, October 25).

I was a small shop owner and market trader many years ago, and can hardly believe how things have changed.
In those days we were able to advertise, for a few pounds, our latest bargains. Customers would come down to see what was on offer.
If the Derbyshire Times could do something like this, perhaps once every month or two, I think it could help a little.
Another thing, if the council could be persuaded to extend free parking for locals from 2pm instead of 3pm, I think it could make a difference. I hear people saying it’s not worth going down after 3pm.
