Wirksworth community choir performs

Music lovers are invited to an evening of choral singing in an historic setting.

The Wirksworth Community Choir is hosting a choral day in St Mary’s Church, Wirksworth, on October 18.

Last year’s event attracted more than 60 singers from all over the region and this year the group will be performing Vivaldi’s ‘Gloria’ and Monteverdi’s ‘Beatus Vir’ – both accompanied by an orchestra of local musicians.

The singers will also perform Tavener’s ‘Song for Athene’ and ‘Beati Quorum via’ by Stanford.

The evening performance at 7.30pm will also include other items featuring soloists and ensembles.

Anyone interested will be welcome at the regular Wednesday evening choir rehearsals in October, which are at 7.45pm at the Wirksworth Junior School.
