Walker taken to hospital after being rescued following “considerable fall” at popular Peak District beauty spot

A walker who was left injured after falling a “considerable distance” at a Peak District beauty spot was rescued and taken to hospital.

On Saturday, October 17, the Glossop Mountain Rescue Team were called to assist a walker who had suffered a fall at Bleaklow.

A team spokesperson said: “We were called to a walker in the Doctors Gate area of Bleaklow who had fallen a considerable distance, but with the support of his friends, had continued to try to get themselves off the hill.

“Upon realising that onward progress was more of a challenge than originally thought, the decision was made to call mountain rescue.

“The team were able to drive a decent way off-road toward the group. Once on the hill, the team assessed, gave pain relief and applied splintage before transporting the gentleman off the hill.

“He was then transferred to an ambulance for further medical assessment and care. We wish the casualty a speedy recovery.”
