Drivers continue to face delays as the M1 remains closed in Derbyshire following a crash this morning.

A collision took place on the M1 between Junction 29 at Heath and Junction 29a at Duckmanton this morning.

National Highways reported that the emergency services were at the scene, with an air ambulance having also been deployed.

The motorway currently remains closed northbound, although Derbyshire police have concluded their investigations and have left the scene.

Service providers are currently assessing a spillage along the carriageway, and there are delays of 70 minutes on the approach to the M1.

A Derbyshire Police spokesperson said: “The northbound carriageway of the M1 between J29 and J29A is closed following a road traffic collision involving a car and a van at just after 9.00am this morning (Monday, October 19).

“The road is expected to remain shut for some time. The southbound carriageway remains open.

“Motorists are advised to please use alternative routes at this time whilst emergency services deal with the incident.”
