Shirebrook star tops bus journey dream list

An Hollywood actor who hails from Shirebrook is the celebrity most people in the midlands would like to spend a bus journey with.

On-screen hard-man Jason Statham topped a survey - carried out by bus company Arriva - to celebrate ‘Catch the Bus Week’, a national campaign to promote the benefits of bus travel.

On Thursday July 7 a Jason Statham lookalike helped Arriva celebrate in style at their headquarters in Derby.

Simon Mathieson, of Arriva UK Bus, said: “With so many benefits, bus is a great way to travel and Catch the Bus Week, which is now in its fourth year, is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the Arriva bus service.

“With comfy seats, free Wi-Fi on board many routes and an app to help plan travel, we want to highlight that when passengers choose to travel on an Arriva Bus, they can expect a VIP experience!”

Elsewhere around the country passengers also voted for their celebrity bus companions.

Passengers in the Shires voted for Kate Middleton, Ant and Dec raced to the front in the North East, Star Trek’s Patrick Stewart was chosen in Yorkshire and Hollywood heartthrob Orlando Bloom wooed his way to the top of the list for passengers in the southern counties.
