Poundland: Derbyshire workers face uncertain future after popular High Street retailer enters administration
600 stores and 12,000 jobs are at risk.
A popular High Street retailer has filed for administration putting thousands of jobs at risk.

Poundland, a discount retailer on a brink of collapse, has filed a notice to appoint AlixPartners as administrators earlier today (Thursday, October 29).
The legal measure protects Poundland from the demands of creditors for 10 days.
But if no solution is found, one of the most popular retailers in the UK could collapse with 600 stores and 12,000 jobs at risk.
This means nine Poundland stores, which are currently open in Derbyshire, could be forced to close their doors.
These include:
- Poundland at the Pavements Shopping Centre in Chesterfield
- Poundland at Ravenside Retail Park in Chesterfield
- Poundland at Bridge Street in Clay Cross
- Poundland at Waterside Retail Park, Station Road in Ilkeston
- Poundland at Waterside Retail Park in Ashbourne
- Poundland at Kingsway Retail Park in Derby
- Poundland at Derbion Shopping Centre in Derby
- Poundland at London Road in Derby
Poundland is a very popular High Street discount retailer, which opened its first store in December 1990.
The chain has quickly gained popularity with 600 Poundland store currently in operation across the UK.
The retailer has been facing increased financial pressure in the last few years.
In June last year, the previous Poundland Owner, Pepco, sold the financially-stranded brand to Gordon Brothers for just £1 hoping to secure the retailer’s future.
Poundland has 10 days to find a solution to its financial struggles.
