Man arrested after alleged sexual assault in Chesterfield

Police have confirmed a man has been arrested after an alleged sexual assault near Chesterfield railway station over the weekend.

The incident is thought to have occurred in the early hours of Sunday, sometime between midnight and 3am, in the location of Crow Lane.

A Derbyshire Constabulary spokesperson said: “A 25-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and has been released on bail.”

No further details have been released by the force at this stage.

Residents reported seeing a cordon and police activity in the railway station area on Sunday.
