Arm wrestling champ John Scowby.

Both men are members of Staveley-based Chesterfield Bad Boys Arm Wrestling Club.

John said: “We’re trained by Alan Greaves and Garry Ricketts, who’ve both won world and national tiles on several occasions, and we’d like to say a big thank you to them.

“Chesterfield is big for arm wrestling champions.”

Councillor Anne-Frances Hayes, who serves Staveley on Derbyshire County Council, said: “This is a fantastic achievement.

John, Wojtek Jablecki and his son Isaac, and Rob Frampton, former Britain’s Strongest Man.

“For John in particular, to get his title after only just over a year in the sport is testament to his hard work and dedication.

“John and the team are brilliant ambassadors for Derbyshire – and excellent, positive role models for young people looking to get into weight-based activities.”
