LETTER: The last time we’ll go to Chesterfield – ever
The last time we went to Chesterfield town centre, I parked my then-daughters' car on the disabled bays close to the Halifax and Nationwide.
The parking warden was stood outside the Nationwide and watched us park up. My wife uses two sticks to shuffle across the road, so he can't have missed seeing her as he was looking straight at us.
I am also disabled but able to walk short distances without becoming breathless. I put my blue badge on the dashboard and set the clock by the car clock - that was what prompted the error. As I was one of her nominated drivers, I assumed everything was fine. Unbeknown to me she had her clock set 10 minutes fast, for whatever reason I cannot say.
That is when the green jacket swooped in and stuck a fine on the car. I could not understand what was wrong, so I politely asked the warden, and he said the clock was 10 minutes before the time of arrival and issued a £40 ticket accordingly.

Hence why it was the last time we went to Chesterfield town, ever.
Our daughter died of a brain tumour in 2017, so we have not been back in almost 10 years. As if losing your daughter at the age of 37 is not bad enough, to get a ticket when sorting out her affairs is just wrong.
We paid it grudgingly, as we had far more important thing to think of such as her children, our grandchildren who were age 11 and 9 at the time.
