Police issue appeal and release CCTV footage as part of Derbyshire dog theft investigation

Derbyshire police have released CCTV footage of a car they are keen to trace in connection with their dog theft investigation after three canines were stolen from a farm last week.

The theft is believed to have taken place sometime between 7pm on Tuesday, August 3 and 7am on Wednesday, August 4 at Brookfield Farm, on West Road in Spondon.

Two Cockapoos named Elvis and Tony were stolen along with a Cocker Spaniel called Remy.

Offers want to trace a vehicle which could possibly be an older model, dark coloured Hyundai Tucson, Santa Fe or Honda CRV.

The car had foreign number plates, and was seen in the area around 6pm on Tuesday, August 3.

Derbyshire police are also keen to speak to the driver of a small silver car – believed to be a Nissan Micra – and a person who can be seen walking past on the CCTV footage, which was taken from Asda at Spondon.

Anyone who noticed the car in their area or is pictured in the video themselves is urged to contact the force.

Officers also want to hear from any drivers with dashcam footage who travelled along Acorn Way, Raynesway or Aspen Drive area between 6pm and 6.30pm on Tuesday, August 3.

Detective Sergeant Scott McDermott said: “Thank you to all those people who have so far come forward.

"We are now particularly keen to trace the driver of this car, and anyone else in the area as they may have further information which could help with our inquiries.

“This is understandably a very distressing time for the dog’s owners and those who cared for them, who are anxious to get them back to their loving homes.”

Those who have information in relation to the burglary and theft of the dogs, should contact police by either calling 101, messaging them on Facebook or Twitter or by completing an online contact form on their website and quoting reference 21*436321 in any correspondence.

Reports can also be submitted anonymously through Crimestoppers and for any information passed though the independent charity that leads to an arrest and charge, the person who informed them may receive a reward of up to £1,000.
