Man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after incident in Chesterfield

A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder in Chesterfield.

Police said a man suffered a hand injury after a firearm was discharged inside a flat on Ormsby Road in the early hours of September 4.

The victim was taken to hospital for treatment and later discharged.

Enquiries have been ongoing since the incident and a 19-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder on Wednesday.

A Derbyshire Constabulary spokesperson said on Thursday: “The man remains in custody and is being questioned.”

At the time of the incident, police said a man in his 30s arrived at Chesterfield Royal Hospital at 4.20am on September 4 with ‘serious’ injuries to his hand.

There was a large police presence on Ormsby Road as officers attempted to work out what had happened.

Chief Inspector Katie Andrews said at the time: “There is not believed to be any wider risk to the public.”
