Derbyshire woman charged over M1 crash which killed children aged 4 and 10

A Derbyshire woman has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving in connection with a crash on the M1 that killed two children aged four and 10.

The tragic incident occurred on the motorway earlier this week between Milton Keynes and Northampton.

Two children aged four and 10-years-old lost their lives in the crash which took place in the evening on Monday, August 9.

Mary McCann, aged 35, of Bamford Avenue, Derby, has been charged with two counts of causing death by dangerous driving following the road traffic collision on the M1.

It is in connection with the crash that occurred on the motorway between junctions 14 and 15 for Milton Keynes and Northampton at around 11.10pm on Monday and involved a white Vauxhall Astra along with a Scania HGV.

McCann has now been remanded in police custody and will make an appearance at Crown Court on September 6.
