The Fox & Goose Inn at Wigley is one of the oldest pubs in Derbyshire – offering great views over the surrounding area.
The Derbyshire Times was invited to learn more about the history of the Fox & Goose – and these photos show why you should make plans to visit over the coming weeks.

5. “Great management team”
Craig said: “We have a great management team, headed by Lynne, who has been with me 16 years - along with her co-manager Ryan. We have a great young chef called Connor, who has just put together a great new autumn/winter menu.” Photo: Brian Eyre

6. Thriving in face of industry challenges
Craig said: “Despite the challenges in terms of the costs facing the industry, we’re still thriving here, which is great.” Photo: Brian Eyre

7. Pie night
Craig said: “We’re a proper pub, pie night on a Thursday is a real winner and we’re still doing two pies for £29 - which come with either mash or chips, and a side of veg and gravy. We’re quite family-orientated, and we do an Italian feast family-night on Saturdays.” Photo: Brian Eyre

8. Support from locals and visitors
Craig said: “We’re on the edge of the Peak District National Park, so we get a lot of traffic with people visiting the area through the summer. We have a lot of loyal locals, and people do travel from the local villages. There’s a total mix of clientele, and our wedding guests come from all over the country.” Photo: Brian Eyre
