Chesterfield headteacher releases statement after coronavirus case 'linked' to school

Heath Primary School confirmed the news to parents via its Facebook page yesterday.

Headteacher Jonathan Lynch says he will continue to keep parents informed of the latest developments and released a statement to the Derbyshire Times last night.

“The health and safety of our pupils and staff is, as always, our priority,” Mr Lynch said.

“As soon as we became aware of the situation we took immediate action and consulted Public Health England and Derbyshire County Council who are satisfied we’ve followed the right procedures to do everything we can to keep our school community safe and well.

“We’ve informed parents about the steps we’ve taken and the measures we’ve put in place and will keep them updated every step of the way.”

There has been plenty of support for the way the school has handled the development.

Lesley Sellars posted on our Facebook page: “The staff are incredible and so dedicated and will be working so hard throughout this very difficult time to ensure the children are as safe and protected as can possibly be. They go above and beyond and really care for the children in their care.

“I hope whoever is ill makes a speedy recovery and gets back to full health soon.”

Rebecca Green said: “Please don't speak badly about the school... they have gone public which I think is a good thing. They are making everyone aware.”
