We have gathered the Derbyshire infant and junior schools which have been rated ‘good’ or ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted inspectors in 2022.
Ofsted inspectors visit schools across England to ensure that the educational institutions are performing well and preparing pupils for further education and life in a community.
Each school is given a rating – outstanding, good, requires improvement, or inadequate.
Below is a list of those Derbyshire primary schools which had the best this year.

13. Ambergate Primary School
The school, which was inspected in March, has been rated as good. The report found that leaders have prioritised getting pupils’ education back to normal following the return to school after lockdown. In particular, teachers focus on addressing the gaps in pupils’ learning that have emerged during the pandemic, and supporting their well-being. Photo: Google
Watchorn Christian School scored 'good' in all the categories during its Ofsted inspection in March. Inspectors found that the curriculum is well-planned. Pupils demonstrate good attitudes to learning and retain new knowledge in a range of subjects. Students achieve well, are respectful of each other and demonstrate kindness. Photo: Google
An inspection on February 17 found that Wigley Primary in Old Brampton, Chesterfield, continues to be a good school. The curriculum is broad and ambitious. Leaders have created what they call ‘curriculum cycles’ so that the knowledge pupils learn is well ordered and builds on pupils’ prior knowledge. Pupils engage with enthusiasm in lessons. Teachers have very high expectations. Many pupils rise to these expectations. Photo: Google
An inspection of Somerlea Park Junior School in Somercotes on January 26 and 27 rated it as 'good' across all categories. Inspectors concluded that leaders make sure that pupils are the most important people at this school. Staff know students well and know how to motivate and get the best out of them. The majority of the school’s curriculum is well planned and sequenced. Pupils’ behaviour is good and students who need help to follow the school’s rules are well supported. Photo: Google
