Derbyshire site manager secures Seal of Excellence in National Housebuilding Awards
A site manager overseeing the construction of David Wilson Homes’ Drakelow Park development in Drakelow has secured a prestigious Seal of Excellence from the National House Building Council (NHBC), recognising the exceptional quality of the homes being built on-site.
Craig Ison (43), who previously won a Pride in the Job Quality Award in 2025, has advanced to the next stage of the competition with this accolade. The Seal of Excellence is awarded to only around 130 site managers nationwide and highlights Craig’s outstanding commitment to building high-quality homes.
Craig, from Nuneaton in Warwickshire, has worked for David Wilson Homes for a total of 17 years and now collected his fourth Seal of Excellence Award, having also won four Quality Awards during his career.
Craig said: “To win the Seal of Excellence Award again is a remarkable achievement, and I’m incredibly proud of what the whole team delivers day in, day out.
“It really comes down to the fantastic work ethic and team spirit we have at Drakelow Park – everyone is committed to maintaining the highest standards and continually improving quality.
“I’d like to thank Dean McAllister, Tim Sharpe, Georgia Hession and Ian Bentley for all their hard work, as well as Darren Langton and John Reddington for their continued support. This award is a reflection of the whole team’s dedication, and I’m thrilled to be celebrating it with them.”
The Pride in the Job competition is known as one of the most rigorous in the industry, with over 8,000 site managers being judged on a variety of criteria, such as technical expertise, leadership, health and safety, and attention to detail. The awards aim to raise standards across the sector and celebrate the pivotal role that site managers play in delivering high-quality homes on time and in safe working environments.
John Reddington, Managing Director at David Wilson Homes East Midlands, said: “We’re incredibly proud of Craig for achieving another prestigious Seal of Excellence award. His dedication to delivering high-quality homes at Drakelow Park has been outstanding, and this recognition is a testament to the exceptional work being carried out on site.”
In 2025, David Wilson Homes also achieved a five-star rating from its customers in the Home Builders Federation (HBF) Customer Satisfaction Survey. The result represents the 16th consecutive year that more than 90% of customers have said they would recommend the developer to a friend, reflecting David Wilson Homes’ ongoing commitment to build quality and customer care.
