Stars of stage and screen add a glittering touch to the new season at Chesterfield’s showpiece venues.

Judy Cornwell from TV’s Keeping Up Appearances stars as Miss Marple in Agatha Christie’s A Murder Is Announced, at the Pomegranate Theatre until Saturday, September 12.

Diane Keen, whose TV credits include The Cuckoo Waltz and The Ruth Rendall Mysteries, joins forces with Graham Cole (The Bill) in You’re Never Too Old at the Pomegranate from September 17 to 19.

Wet Wet Wet frontman Marti Pellow teams up with Maureen Nolan in Blood Brothers at the Winding Wheel from November 3 to 7.

You’d be a muppet to miss the hit musical Avenue Q which bursts onto the Winding Wheel stage from October 20-24. The bad behaviour and political incorrectness make this puppet -driven show a no-no for anyone under 14 years.

Rebecca Ryan (Shameless) and Samantha Power (Coronation Street) perform in Maxine Peake’s play Beryl about cycling legend Beryl Burton at the Pomegranate from November 12 to 14.

The Winding Wheel will host concerts ranging from Les McKeown’s Bay City Rollers on September 17 to All Star 60s show with Brian Poole and the original Tremeloes, The Troggs, Badfinger, The Ivy League and The Pacemakers on October 6 to Dr Hook on October 28 and The Osmonds in Andy Williams’ Christmas Spectacular on December 22.

Performances of Swan Lake on October 26, courtesy of Russian State Ballet & Opera House, The Nutcracker on November 23, presented by Moscow Ballet - La Classique and The Snow Queen on January 8, staged by Ballet Theatre UK, hit the Pomegranate.

Children aren’t left out of the fun. What The Ladybird Heard is suitable for 5 years upwards and runs from September 25 to 27. Father Christmas Needs A Wee! on November 22 is aimed at under 7s.

A treat for all the family is promised in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, starring Jonathan Ansell (from opera group G4), at the Pomegranate from December 4 to January 3.
