Winners of parish council allotment award revealed
The awards celebrate the fantastic efforts of those who help make the parish's allotments such a valued part of the community.
Holymoorside & Walton Parish Council has announced the winners of its 2026 Allotment Awards, recognising the dedication, hard work and achievements of local allotment holders.

The awards were presented by the Chairman of the Parish Council, Cllr Martin Thacker MBE, celebrating the fantastic efforts of those who help make the parish's allotments such a valued part of the community.
This year's Best Kept Allotment Award was presented to Izzy Meades-Jones, whose dedication to growing edible crops has produced some wonderful results.
Alongside receiving this year's award, Izzy also achieved first place at the Holymoorside Horticultural Show, held during the village Gala. Perhaps one of the most memorable achievements of the growing season, however, was successfully growing a straight carrot for the first time in ten years; proving that patience and perseverance really do pay off!
The Most Improved Allotment Award was presented to mother-and-son team Jane and Jonathan Sully, who have completely transformed a challenging allotment plot through their determination, enthusiasm and hard work.
Having previously received an award for a different plot last year, the pair have once again demonstrated what can be achieved with dedication, vision and plenty of effort. Their transformation is a wonderful example of the commitment shown by allotment holders across the parish.
