The Peak Sightseer allows visitors to discover the very best of the Peak District with a flexible hop-on, hop-off bus experience. With one ticket covering two scenic routes, visitors can explore destinations like Chatsworth, Bakewell and Castleton at their own pace.

This year, 48,014 visitors hopped on board – an increase of 10% on the previous year, and, at 390 visitors per day, the highest figure in the tour’s history.

The Peak Sightseer runs throughout the Summer tourist season. Red Route buses travel run in a loop, with stops including Chatsworth House, Hassop Station (for the Monsal Trail), Bakewell and Ashford in the Water. Meanwhile, Blue Route stops include Chatsworth House, Longshaw Lodge (for Padley Gorge and the Longshaw Estate), Castleton (for Peveril Castle) and the breathtaking views of Winnat’s Pass, and Blue John Cavern, for Mam Tor.

John Young, Commercial Director of Stagecoach in Derbyshire, said: “We are incredibly pleased with the continuing success of Peak Sightseer, and we are very grateful for all the hard work put in by our front of house team to provide visitors with the very best possible experience.

“There is nothing quite like seeing the beauty of the Peak District from the top deck of an open-top bus, and to really engage with all the local history and opportunities. Peak Sightseer now plays a really important role in boosting the local tourism industry, allowing people to travel sustainably. Certainly, we know that Peak Sightseer fans come from far and wide to sample the tours and enjoy the views.

“However, we can never rest on our laurels, so the hard work begins now to plan for Summer 2027!”
