Jean Monk, 94, was enthusiastic to take part in the community project after Jemma, a volunteer from Scropton Community Hall, contacted the home to ask whether any residents would like to help knit poppies for the display.

An experienced knitter, Jean was keen to get involved and has spent time creating beautifully knitted poppies that will form part of the village's tribute ahead of Remembrance Day.

Gemma, Customer Relationship Manager at Dovebourne, said: "We were delighted when Jemma contacted us, and Jean was wonderful to get involved. It's such a lovely way for our residents to share their talents and contribute to something meaningful in the local community. We're incredibly proud of Jean and the beautiful poppies she has knitted."

Jean added, "I've really enjoyed knitting the poppies. It was very kind of Jemma to bring me a box of biscuits. I'm looking forward to seeing the display."

Jean and other residents at Dovebourne will be visiting the display in Scropton for Remembrance Sunday.

You can find out more about community initiatives at Dovebourne during the home’s weekly Cuppa Club, every Tuesday from 10:00, for a hot drink and refreshments.
