Call for pet owners to back charity in The Great British Dog Walk at Derbyshire visitor attraction

Dog owners are encouraged to sign up for a charity walk that is heading for a Derbyshire tourist resort for the first time.

Hearing Dogs for Deaf People will host The Great British Dog Walk at Carsington Water on Sunday, September 12, 2021.

The charity trains dogs to alert deaf children and adults to important and life-saving sounds and help them to leave loneliness behind.

Hundreds of walkers of all ages, and dogs of all shapes and sizes, will be taking part in the walk where there are two options – either 5km or 13km routes.Walkers will set off in staggered time slots and registration is contact-free to ensure safety for everyone involved.

There is a free limited-edition Great British Dog Walk dog bandana with each adult ticket purchased for the walk. Tickets for the event are £10 per adult, children under 16 years go free. There are no on-the-day registrations so advanced online booking is essential. Simply choose your half-hour walk start slot and book!

Any participant who seeks sponsorship for the walk and raises £25 or more will receive a free gift as a thank you.

It costs around £40,000 to fully train and support a hearing dog for the duration of its life and Hearing Dogs for Deaf People relies on the support of donations so every person taking part in the Great British Dog Walk will be helping to transform the lives of deaf people.
