'You were our friend and brother': Heartbreaking tributes pour in for former Chesterfield player Jordan Sinnott after tragic death

The 25-year-old passed away in hospital just after 7pm tonight, Matlock Town FC confirmed in a statement.
Nottinghamshire Police were called to reports of a serious assault in Retford town centre at about 11.25pm on Friday night.

Hide AdA Nottinghamshire Police statement read: “Officers were later called to assist ambulance crews who were attempting to treat Mr Sinnott after he was found unconscious with a suspected fractured skull following a subsequent incident at around 2am in the town’s Market Place.
“A 27-year old man who was arrested shortly after the incident remains in police custody while detectives continue their enquiries into both incidents.”
Mr Sinnott played for Chesterfield in the 2017/18 season before moving on to Alfreton Town and then Matlock Town.
Both Matlock Town and Alfreton Town called off their matches on Saturday afternoon.

Hide AdPaying tribute to him on Twitter, Matlock Town posted: “You weren't just a footballer, you were our friend and brother. You gave us incredible memories and scored your first career hat-trick in your final game for the club.

“Rest easy Jordan, we love, miss and will never forget you.
“Thank you to all those who have reached out and sent kind messages on what is a difficult day for us all.
“We are all heartbroken at the moment but we give every ounce of our remaining strength to Jordan's family and friends at this difficult time.”
And Alfreton Town posted: “Our hearts are broken.
“We love you Sinbad.
“Rest in peace.”
