The new Town boss has already made three signings in midfielders Tom Whelan, 24, Jak McCourt, 25, and striker Akwasi Asante, 28, so playing time may not be possible for some current Blues players.

“I am always looking to improve the team,” Rowe said. “Saying that, I have got loyalties to the players in the changing room. The players that have played have done well.

“There will be younger ones looking to get out on loan to balance the books a little bit but also so it gives me a chance to see them at a good level. Unfortunately we have not got a reserve team or under-23s here so the only way I can do that, consistently, is for those ones to go on loan but they have got to go on loan to clubs that I am comfortable with and the team they go on loan to mirrors the way I want to play so it is important that we don’t just jump at the first loan move that comes up.”

Rowe, who is going to be living in Nottingham so he is closer to the club, believes Chesterfield should have won both of his first two games in charge because Scott Boden’s goal in the draw against Aldershot was wrongly ruled offside in his opinion.

One of the aspects he wants Chesterfield to improve on, and he feels they have done so far, is how far they run and to do it at a higher intensity.

Rowe said: “When we were conceding sloppy goals before I came in a lot of fingers were being pointed towards the back three or back four but actually if you minimise the amount of crosses they are dealing with, or where they are doing it on the pitch, you can turn the ball over and you can attack closer to the opposition goal but also you are stopping the threat at the source.”

In other news, Chesterfield’s postponed match at Dover Athletic has been rescheduled for Tuesday, December 22 (7.45pm KO).
