The centre-half has been out since April after rupturing his Achilles but was closing in on making a return to contact training.

However, the 28-year-old has suffered a major setback and will be in a race to get fit before the end of the season.

“I think it is a blow for us, the team and the club but bigger than that it is a blow for him,” Webb told the DT.

"I have only known Haydn a few months because when I came in he was not around much because he was rehabilitating. I have really got to see what he is like and he is positive and he is so good around the place.

"So for him personally knowing that he is going to have a bit more time out, through the same injury, is a bit soul destroying for him.

"But two or three days on from doing it his positivity astounds me really. He is back in laughing and joking and I think that is the best way to be, I would recommend that sort of approach to anyone if they go through the same thing as him.

"He just fights back and I am sure he will bounce back and when he does come back he will be a fantastic addition again for the team.”

When asked how it happened, Webb added: "It was a bad luck thing. I think he knew as soon as he did it, you could see on his face, it was devastating to see.

"But as soon as he got over that and realised it might be a bad one again, he is back to being Haydn and being back on the positivity and that positivity, I think, will get him to bounce back quicker than maybe others would.

"I am not sure on the timescale, all I am sure of is that the time he was meant to be back is going to get pushed back a bit further.

"I am sure he is hoping to get some action in before the end of the season.”
