Second half goals from Joe Sbarra and a 93rd minute winner from Kyle Hudlin secured a comeback win for the hosts after Tom Denton had given the Spireites the lead on Tuesday night.

When asked if it was a deserved win, Solihull boss Shan said: "100 per cent, yeah, I think we were the only team trying to play the right way and play football.

"We played them on Saturday and we knew their approach was going to be very direct, they looked to hit Denton on the diagonal at every opportunity.

"I thought we played some outstanding football, I am delighted with the performance and the execution of our game plan and the way we want to play football.”

Akwasi Asante almost doubled Chesterfield’s lead in the second half after an incredible solo run but his effort crashed off the crossbar, and Curtis Weston was denied by a good save from goalkeeper Ryan Boot at 1-1 with 12 minutes to go.

"In fairness to him (Asante) he is a good player, he is a forward threat, his ball management is very good and he is unfortunate, and we have Ryan Boot to thank for at least one match-winning save at 1-1 so some moments in there we can improve,” Shan said.

Denton headed in from Jak McCourt’s corner for the opener, and Shan claimed Moors goalkeeper, Boot, lost sight of the ball because of the floodlights.

"I think Boot has lost it in the light, I think the light has caused a bit of a problem,” he said.

Solihull thought they had won it in the 87th minute when Kyle Storer headed in Jamie Ward’s corner but referee Tom Bishop disallowed it, before Hudlin struck the winner.

"I have not seen it back but for the life of me I don’t know why it is,” Shan said. “I think the referee said it was a block but if that is the case then you blow up and give a free-kick on every set-play because somebody always work a block. I am disappointed why that one was ruled out.”
