Mixed injury news for Chesterfield as they prepare to face Dagenham and Redbridge

The 24-year-old has missed the last three matches due to Covid but the left-back is now back in contention.

Manager James Rowe said: “He was available Tuesday but he did not have enough training hours in him. We were cautious with him. We could have thrown him in but it was not worth the risk. So he comes back into the fold tomorrow with four good training days under his belt.”

However, the Blues will be without top scorer Tom Denton who is expected to be out for at least 10 weeks with a knee injury. He will be having an operation next week.

Meanwhile, Joe Rowley is set to be out for around five weeks after suffering a grade two hamstring tear against Boreham Wood in midweek.

And Jak McCourt is unavailable after collecting his fifth booking of the season against Boreham Wood last time out so he serves a one-match ban.

His place in the starting line-up is likely to go to either Gavin Gunning, Martin Smith or Jack Clarke.

Smith started the FA Trophy win against Boston United but is yet to start in the league.

Gunning made his debut in the second half against Boreham Wood.

Clarke, who signed on loan from Aston Villa earlier this month, is yet to make an appearance.

“He is really getting up to speed now, settling in well in the group and he has trained very well this week,” Rowe added
