The Blues led twice through Will Evans and Akwasi Asante after Tom Whelan was sent off but had to settle for a point in the end.

“It was a magnificent display,” Rowe said.

“To go down to 10 men, to roll our sleeves up and go ahead twice, and have the same penalty entries as our opponents - 14 each - in a game where we have got 10 men for 88 minutes because we played four extra minutes in each half, a lot of credit has to go to the lads. It shows we are in a good place.

“We were disappointed a little bit with the first goal, we pressed in the wrong areas and we got caught out, from Dagenham’s point of view it is a good goal, some good football.

“And the second goal, sometimes you have to take your hat off and applaud a great goal.

“We managed out the game quite comfortably in the end.”

Rowe has been left frustrated at some of the refereeing decisions in the last month, including a soft penalty given for Wrexham last week, Whelan’s sending off on Saturday and George Carline had a goal harshly rued out.

“There has been some adversity thrown at us, out of our control in the last six weeks in games, I could reel them off,” he said.

“Some decision-making, out of our control, has affected the decision-making again and it can’t keep happening.

“I am most disappointed about where on 72 minutes the ball has gone out of play, the substitute has controlled it and played it back to their player and that was their disallowed goal. It was clearly offside but how it has got to that stage and being able to play a quick throw is beyond me.

“We were in complete control for the first 10 minutes as the away team.

“The team reacted really well to the sending off.

“We restricted them to minimal chances so I have got to be very pleased with the attitude and togetherness of the players.”
