Sam Curtis gave the Spireites the lead on 16 minutes when Liam Mandeville’s corner was flicked on by Sil Swinkels and the on-loan Sheffield United man finished from close-range at the back post.
Town had other chances to extend their lead, while also never looking in any real danger, and they secured the victory to stretch their unbeaten run to five and move back into the play-offs.
Here are our player ratings from the game...

5. Tom Pearce 7
Forced goalkeeper Morris into a low parry when he drove into space and drilled towards goal. A night when he had to concentrate on stopping Gillingham's wing-back rather than bombing on himself. And he stuck to the task well. Dragged a late chance wide when you would have fancied him to hit the target. Photo: Brian Eyre

6. Ryan Stirk 7
Showed some nice calmness at times to get the ball down and play when it was scrappy and ugly in the middle of the park. Battled away. Photo: Tina Jenner

7. Sammy Braybrooke 8
A difficult evening to get into your flow but he produced some classy little touches and passes. Moved further forward on the hour after some subs and his quality shone through as the game wore on. A Cruyff turn got everyone purring as the clock ticked down. Photo: Brian Eyre

8. Dilan Markanday 6
A fairly quiet outing for the winger who struggled to find space and was constantly surrounded. Plugged away defensively. Withdrawn on the hour. Photo: Brian Eyre
