"When 'Pembo' gave me a ring, I was more than willing to come back. It seems exciting and good what he's trying to do with the club."

Spireites legend Sean Dyche, who is manager of Burnley, was more than happy for Cropper to come back to the Blues.

“He knows that I'm looked after under Pembo and he knows that it's a great club,” Cropper added.

On signing the right-back, John Pemberton said Cropper is someone who has “great potential” and he is looking forward to working with him again.

"Jordan had other offers but he was desperate to come back here and Sean Dyche was only too pleased to help us out,” he added.

Cropper is Chesterfield’s third summer signing following the arrivals of Nathan Tyson and Milan Butterfield.

Meanwhile, Pemberton has expressed his determination to have a strong team spirit.

He said: “I want us to have a good camaraderie and I want it to be a good dressing room.

"I know what I want the group to be and I know the dynamics I want to put together. These players fit that criteria."
