As many as 40 players wore the Spireites shirt as James Rowe ripped up the squad in November following his appointment as manager.
And the changes paid off as Town went from relegation strugglers to promotion challengers.
Some of those who feature below did not make enough appearances to be accurately judged, while others were regulars and made a big impact.
Here is how Liam Norcliffe rated each player out of 10 this season...

5. Grant Smith 8
Joined on a deal until the end of the season on a free transfer in January. Kept 10 clean sheets in 18 starts and signed a new one-year contract. Surprisingly, he lost his place in the starting line-up before the end of the campaign. Photo: Dean Atkins

6. James Montgomery 7
Became the sixth goalkeeper to play for Town in the season. Signed from Gateshead until the end of the campaign after their season was curtailed. Made seven starts and kept one clean sheet. Started the last six matches. Sadly his season ended in injury in the play-off defeat to Notts County. Photo: Dean Atkins

7. George Carline 9
My player of the season. He was one of Rowe's first signings after joining on a free from Gloucester City. The right-back started every game except one when he was suspended. He was very consistent and his versatility proved valuable. Nothing seemed to faze him and his fitness levels were excellent. An outstanding contribution from him. Photo: jason chadwick

8. Josef Yarney 5
He made just 12 starts this season. He did not feature much under Rowe. Started back-to-back games against King's Lynn Town and Wealdstone towards the end of the season but was bombed out after that. Photo: jason chadwick
